On Monday, Tristan had arranged for us to take a market tour in Florence with Context Travel. Without further ado, here are some of the yummy things we saw and tried.
Gorgeous fresh produce, mostly local:

As is typical for European markets, there was an indoor area with cheeses, meats (fresh and cured), fish, and dry goods like beans and grains.

This charming man let us taste prosciutto, as well as several different cheeses and a prosciutto made of cinghiale, wild boar.

Every shape and flavor of fresh pasta imaginable was available.

Fresh meats, including hamburger with asparagus:

And stuffed chicken necks. Talk about food with a face!

We stopped and tasted some different kinds of breads.

At the end of the tour, Linda took us to this tiny store front where Marco, a hunter, opened shop a couple of years ago. He serves 7 or 8 different dishes each day, all available on crostini or in panini. Also a couple of different wines and italian sodas. We tried one of each--donkey, anchovy, chicory with honey and orange, tuna, ham with spicy bell tomatoes, pecorino. They were all delicious.
